Deputy President William Ruto told governors, senators, MPs, MCAs and opinion leaders on Monday at his Sugoi home in Uasin Gishu county that the new Jubilee party will address the problem of tribalism in the country.
The leaders included those from Narok, Pokot and Turkana counties.
Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who spoke on behalf of senators said the communities in Rift Valley have agreed to unite with other communities under one party in order to eradicate tribalism and negative ethnicity.
The leaders unanimously endorsed the move to merge all the parties in jubilee and urged the Deputy President to work with the President in seeking support outside the region.
Kalenjin chairman of the Council of Elders John See said the community was firmly in agreement with the plans to merge all the Jubilee affiliate parties.
MPs representatives Joyce Laboso (Sotik), Joseph Cheboi (Kuresoi North), among others said they have resolved to popularize the party to residents at the grassroots.
Governors Jackson Mandago (Uasin-Gishu), Simon Kachapin (West Pokot) and Samuel Tunai (Narok) said leaders in the region were firmly in support of the new party.
"As governors, we will work round the clock to ensure our people understand why we are bringing all our parties together. But it should be clear that our people are in agreement with us,” said Mandago.
