Deputy President William Ruto has launched another scathing attack on the opposition by accusing them of derailing polls over ‘petty’ excuses.
The opposition team has threatened to boycott this year’s elections should the controversial amendments of election laws are assented to by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On Monday, Ruto blamed the opposition for using delay tactics to sabotage polls due to their unpreparedness.
“These people do not want to face us in elections because they are ever crying. They are always coming with petty excuses because of unpreparedness,” he said.
Ruto added: “Whether they like it all not, we must have elections in August as per the constitution. We need a manual backup system because technology can fail.”
He also questioned the opposition’s agenda to the country adding that it was only focused in derailing activities launched by Jubilee administration.
