Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambitions have severely sabotaged President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election campaign in Gusii region, a senior politician from the region has revealed.

The Ex-MP, who spoke on condition of anonymity, says Ruto’s men have frustrated politicians believed to be allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“His (Ruto) men have completely taken control of campaigns and they are focusing on 2022. This is detrimental and the president ought to intervene,” said the source.

The source further says internal wrangles within the two factions are attributed to competition for Jubilee ticket ahead of August polls.

“Those allied to the president are accusing the perceived Ruto’s men of boasting that they are in possession of party ticket in respect to the position they are vying,” added the source.

The shocking revelation comes barely a day after a leaked audio confirmed plans of Walter Nyambati, a politician allied to Kenyatta, was contemplating to leave Jubilee Party.

Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta was also forced to cancel voter registration campaign in the region due to internal wrangles, believed to be fueled by DP Ruto’s men.
