Deputy President William Ruto has lauded the citizens of Kenya for choosing to elect female politicians in the General Election.
On Tuesday, DP Ruto spoke during the swearing in ceremony of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and her deputy Peter Njagi.
He highlighted the success of Waiguru and her counterparts Joyce Laboso of Bomet and Charity Ngilu of Kitui. “I want to congratulate our female elected governors and MPs during the last election in a special way since this is historic since the implementation of our new Constitution. We are therefore here to celebrate the women of our country who have done us proud,” added the Deputy President. He further urged citizens to move forward after the recently concluded elections and asked them to practice peace during this very delicate time.
"Now that elections are behind us, we should now commit ourselves in implementing our agenda with the aim of improving the people’s living standards,” said Mr Ruto.
