Led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, the leaders engaged in singing and prayer in the jovial event that did not fail in coating controversy.

In his address, President Kenyatta made it plain and simple that he is not privy to the negotiating committee that Cord has set up to deliberate on the way forward in solving the IEBC stalemate.

Kenyatta said that the constitution is very clear on the way forward if Cord wanted the IEBC commissioners sent home. He even thanked God for the new constitution which he said came at the right time to counter people like Cord who do not want to follow the rule of law.

“God gave us a new Constitution that provides a way forward on the IEBC. We must not only use the Constitution when it favours us but also when it does not. We must not use the Constitution only for our convenience,” President Kenyatta said.

However, it was DP Ruto who left many in stitches when he joked about Cord's negotiation team.

"After I heard of Cord coming up with a 5 member committee to discuss the IEBC issue one member of parliament told me, now that Cord has formed a committee that includes Muthama, Mishi (Mboko) and Orengo, we as Jubilee should also make our own committee comprising of Moses Kuria and 'Baba Yao' (Waititu).
