Deputy President William Ruto has questioned the sincerity of NASA leader Raila Odinga’s latest statement that the DP will need his support to win the 2022 presidential race.Speaking during the funeral of Kipkelion East ODM chairman William Koech on Thursday, Raila said that Ruto's 2022 State House bid will not be realised if he (Raila) doesn’t throw his weight behind the DP. Raila asked Ruto to reach out to him if he wants to ascend to power in 2022.“Does Ruto think he can be a President without Raila? I can help him get there if he wants,” said Raila. However, in a quick response, Ruto’s spokesperson David Mugonyi questioned Raila's statement, asking whether the former Premier will disown his agreement with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, his coalition partner."We thought that Raila signed an agreement to support Kalonzo. Has he since realised that Ruto is a better candidate than Kalonzo?" asked Mugonyi, as quoted by the Standard.Mugonyi said Ruto was not interested in discussing 2022 politics, as he is focused on delivering the promises Jubilee made to Kenyans.Ruto and Raila were key allies in the run to the 2007 general election which Raila lost to retired President Mwai Kibaki.Ruto later ditched ODM and teamed up with Uhuru Kenyatta to defeat Raila in the last two general elections.
