Deputy President William Ruto has claimed that 7.5 million Kenyans voted in the repeat presidential election held on Thursday.

Speaking during an interview on CNN on Saturday,  Ruto rubbished claims by National Super Alliance (NASA) Flag bearer Raila Odinga that only 3.5 million Kenyans had turned up to vote.

Ruto further weighed in on the 6.5 million voter turnout announced by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

During stated that Chebukati’s figure was just an estimate.

The Deputy President noted that the nine percent of Kenyans were denied their right to vote by organised militia who ensured that election officials and election materials did not make it to the polling stations.

“91 percent of Kenyans who voted for Uhuru Kenyatta in August turned out again and voted for us on Thursday. We will soon be having a swearing-in in accordance with the constitution of Kenya,” he said.
