Speaking at Kongasis Primary School during the launch of electricity project on Friday, the Deputy President said that the yet-to-be-formed Jubilee party will only support a candidate who has been democratically elected by people.

According to Ruto, the coalition does not intend to prefer any candidate before  fair nominations are done.

"President Uhuru and I do not have preferred candidates. All candidates will be selected by citizens through party nominations," Ruto said.

"Let no one cheat you that they have the endorsement of President Uhuru Kenyatta or William Ruto because we do not believe in endorsements. It is undemocratic," he added.

The revelation by the DP comes barely a week after having a rough time with a section of legislators from Central who accused him of endorsing Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa for the Nairobi top seat.

The news of Wamalwa's endorsement has left the Jubilee house divided as a section of the members believe that the party's top leadership wants to give some members preferential treatment in the race for the city's top seat.
