NASA principals on Wednesday made an unexpected move to endorse Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago in his re-election bid, a move that has since elicited mixed reactions in the political circles.
Uasin Gishu is the home county of Deputy President William Ruto and is widely considered a Jubilee Party strong hold.
But while speaking on Thursday, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto told the Standard that their (NASA) decision to support Mandago is as a result of many political wars wedged against the Uasin Gishu Governor by Jubilee politicians.
According to Ruto, the endorsement will see Mandago floor his bitter rival Bundotich Kiprop alias Buzeki, an independent candidate, during the August 8 contest.
"It is public knowledge that there are more than 64,000 people who will not subscribe to the Deputy President in Uasin Gishu and all that Mandago needs is 60,000 votes to win the upcoming elections," Ruto was quoted by the Standard.
Eldoret Town which is a cosmopolitan town may decide the race with Mandago having an upper hand following NASA principals' decision to throw their weight behind him.
