Boment deputy governor Stephen Mutai has pledged to take legal action against his boss, governor Isaac Ruto, following his alleged sacking.

It is alleged Ruto sacked him after failing to agree with him, on how the South Rift County should be driven.

Mutai said he would not rest until he is dismissed legally, saying Ruto should have followed the right procedures, when sacking him.

The deputy governor said the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader does not respect other people's views.

"He wants everything he says to be final,'' said Mutai.

He added: "If he wants me out of office, let him follow the right procedure. I am taking the matter to Court and the Senate Assembly.''

Ruto however denied claims he sacked his deputy.

He said he only relieved him off, his duties, to allow him campaign for his gubernatorial bid.

Speaking during a swearing in ceremony of new county officials, Ruto said his deputy had completely absconded his duties for close to one and a half years and therefore he should just surrender from office.

Ruto seeks to be re-elected in August 8.

He faces a tough race from Mutai and National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Sotik MP Joyce Laboso.

The two are seeking to be elected on a Jubilee Party ticket.
