The move by the opposition leaders to get all the IEBC officials thrown out of office has been received by many leaders with mixed reactions.
Jubilee leaders have termed the move by the Cord coalition to remove the IEBC officials from office and bring other officials to head the 2017 general election has unlawful and unconstitutional.
The contract term for the current IEBC officials ends in November 2017 but the opposition leaders have claimed that IEBC has plans to rig the elections come 2017 and now they want IEBC be thrown and new people appointed to head the 2017 elections.
Speaking in Dagoretti on Sunday, deputy president, William Ruto said that as Jubilee party they do not need IEBC to win the coming elections and urged the opposition leaders to follow the law to terminate the contract for the current IEBC officials before bringing new people into office to head the 2017 elections.
"As Jubilee, we don't need IEBC for a win in 2017. Instead, we are concentrating in delivering good leadership to Kenyans who elected us and I believe come 2017 we will be re-elected again by the same people who voted for us in 2013," said Ruto.
