Bomet governor Isaac Ruto has dismissed manual voting and transmission system saying the mechanism will provide chances for ‘nonexistent voters to participate in the exercise.
Ruto also adds that it will also provide avenue to vote manipulation which he says would plunge into chaos.
In his submissions top the senate legal community, Ruto demanded that the country embraces electronic voting system.
“In my place for instance, I saw some polling stations recording 100 percent voter turnout. That is impossible and impractical. It means that no voter died or changed to another location,” he said.
“Manual voting will allow non-existent people to participate in the polls. We must use electronic system so that the accuracy is verified. We want actual winners of polls to be declared and not the other way round,” he added.
The Council of Governors, Chambers of Commerce, Media Owners Association and Law Society of Kenya are some of the organizations that have backed electronic voting system.
