Deputy president William Ruto has finally spoken about his torrid experience in Kisumu where he was heckled three weeks ago.
In an interview with Radio Citizen on Wednesday, the outspoken politician dismissed any possibilities that the crowd could have been incited to humble him adding that he knows his problem with locals the Luo Nyanza region.
"I understand my brothers from Kisumu.I know why they probably feel angry towards me.They believe that i made a mistake by abandoning Raila Odinga and endorsing president Kenyatta. But it is their right to hold contrary opinions," he said. The former cabinet minister was roundly booed by Kisumu residents in the presence of president Uhuru Kenyatta even as he struggled to address them.Prior to their fallout in 2009,the Rift Valley kingpin was one of the staunchest defenders of Odinga in the ODM party. However a rift soon emerge between them barely months after the establishment of the Grand Coalition government as tussles for party seniority set in.What would follow was an all out confrontations that later led to an acrimonius divorce by the two allies as The International Criminal Court came calling for the former Eldoret North lawmaker.Ruto would later team up with Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 to form the Jubilee Alliance and which went ahead to win the year's general election even as the then Coalition of Reforms and Democracy (Cord) cried foul saying the elections were not entirely credible.
