Speaking in his county on Sunday, the leader said that he and his supporters will not join the new party.

''We don't know anything called Jubilee Party, we were in the Jubilee Coalition but left immediately they killed the URP Party. We are deeply in our Mashinani Party,'' said the leader.

The Governor cited bad administration and heavy reckless borrowing as one reason why he is opposed to the Uhuruto leadership, saying that in four years, the government has borrowed too much money as compared to the amount borrowed by the last government in 10 years.

''Everybody has a debt because of the heavy borrowing done by the Jubilee government. They are doing projects that we cannot see and it is time that they told us where the borrowed money goes to. They should know that we did not elect them to borrow beyond the capacity of this nation,' he added.

The event, which was ignored by all Rift Valley Governors was however attended by opposition leaders including Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka and Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat among other leaders.

Ruto was presiding over the welcome back meeting prepared to welcome him after a successful specialized nose treatment in South Africa.

The Governor was forced to seek the medical attention after a police officer allegedly threw a tear gas canister at his face, injuring his nose.

The incident happened after fracas erupted during a function at the Silibwet Stadium on November 7th.
