Deputy President William Ruto [PHOTO/the-star.co.ke]Deputy President William Ruto has laughed off calls by the NASA Opposition to boycott products from certain companies.
Ruto said that NASA leaders had become extortionists in the calls as they targeted specific companies that did not play to their demands.
Through his Twitter handle, the DP asked the companies to refuse the extortion and stay put.
“That companies have to ‘donate’ to supremo to avoid listing in the brazen and bizarre extortion racket-styled ‘economic boycott’? Criminal!” Ruto said.
He asked Bidco Africa to instead continue with its expansion of their edible oils manufacturing plant.
“As GoK (Government of Kenya), we advise Bidco to reject extortion and continue its Sh20 billion expansion programme that will increase to 12,500 Kenyans working there,” read another post.
Ruto told the companies that they should pay their taxes only to the "Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and reject the extortion scheme styled as economic boycott”.
