Deputy President William Rutto has cautioned that the Jubilee government will not be coerced to close down schools following the ongoing fires in schools.

Speaking at Hero's secondary school grounds, Bahati constituency in Nakuru on Sunday, Ruto said the government will not take such an action.

"We wont accept to be blackmailed. Exam cheats in national exams and lack of transparency by school heads in public institutions won't be negotiated",added the deputy President.

Ruto said the country fought for independence to kick out illiteracy adding that it was shocking certain proponents are fighting to see schools closed.

The event was attended several MPs from the region.
