The governor of Bomet Isaac Ruto stormed a doctor's union meeting, Wednesday, and allegedly roughed up the officials, threatening them with a firearm.
The officials included the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists' Union (KPMDU) chairman Samuel Oroko, secretary general Ouma Oluga, the union's South Rift branch secretary general Davji Atela, among others from the county.
The meeting that was being held at Fair Hill Hotel was immediately disrupted, with most of the officials running for their dear lives.
Oluga condemned the incident, and called for Ruto's resignation, Wednesday.
Ruto dismissed claims that he roughed up th officials, saying he was not aware of the meeting.
"I had gone to the hotel to meet Narok West MP Patrick Ntutu,'' he said.
He added that he wanted to send him a message of condolence to deliver on his behalf to bereaved families in Emurua Dikirr Constituency following tribal animosities between the Kipsigis and Maasai community.
Ruto also dismissed claims of pointing gun to the officials.
