Deputy President William Ruto has accused Bomet governor Isaac Rutto of poor leadership in the region.

The DP said Rutto is a barrier towards the unity of the rift valley region and an obstacle to implementation of crucial developments due to his selfish interests.

He also blamed the governor of blocking the construction of a University in the County by the national government.

He said Kenyans should choose leaders who support development projects.

“You people should be careful this time round as to choose someone who does not oppose projects; your governor troubled us, he has endeavoured to see the University is not constructed but even with that come August we are going to put a governor here who wants it put," the DP said.

Ruto was speaking in Sotik, Bomet county, Friday, where he announced Sh700 million would be made available for New KCC to ensure farmers are paid on time.

He was accompanied by Kericho deputy governor Susan Kikwai, Bomet senator Wilfred Lesan, MPs Ronald Tonui (Bomet Central), Bernard Bett (Bomet East), Sammy Koech (Konoin), Woman Representative Cecilia Ng'etich, Benjamin Langat (Ainamoi) and Bomet County Assembly Speaker Geoffrey.

Also in attendance at the event were Cabinet Secretaries Adan Mohammed (Industrialization) and Willy Bett (Agriculture).
