Deputy President William Ruto on Friday took the Jubilee campaigns to Mombasa where he exuded confidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta will win the October 17 repeat presidential election.Ruto said Jubilee stands a better chance to win the presidency since the party controls a majority of the MPs, senators, women representatives and MCAs. The DP said NASA leaders are unprepared to face off with President Uhuru in the polls, adding that is why they were pushing for an overhaul of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.“Our competitors should know they are competing with us and not IEBC. We are ready for the repeat election and we know we will win,” he said.Ruto was accompanied by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, and former Jubilee Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal, among other party leaders.Mombasa County is perceived to be an opposition stronghold. In the August 8 elections, NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga won by garnering 238, 943 votes against President Uhuru’s 99,508 votes.Jubilee and NASA have intensified campaigns across the country after Supreme Court nullified Uhuru’s re-election and ordered for a repeat election to be held on October 17, 2017.
