Deputy President William Ruto has asked the opposition to develop an alternative government for Kenyans.
Speaking on a live TV interview Tuesday evening, Ruto told opposition leaders to show Kenyans what they have as the alternative government. He accused opposition chiefs of trying to force their agenda on the ruling Jubilee instead of letting it run the country.
"They should focus on creating an alternative government," he said.
The Kenya's second in command said that the current president does not enjoy imperial powers under the current constitution, unlike the past regimes where the constitution gave the president more power.
"Imperial president had all the powers, currently it's shared."
Ruto was commenting on the opposition's demand that President Uhuru Kenyatta should crack the whip and send IEBC commissioners packing.
He accused the opposition of wedging war with every institution in the country.
"If you have a problem with all the institutions, that means you have a problem with the people".
During the interview, Ruto denied that he had anything to do with the murder of government critic Jacob Juma.
Juma had in 2015 tweeting that the Deputy President had laid a plan to assassinate him.
Ruto dismissed the tweet saying he had no reason whatsoever to kill the controversial businessman.
