Deputy President William Ruto says Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga is trying to blackmail Kenyans with the push to oust 12 IEBC officials before a fresh presidential election is held.

Ruto has criticised Raila, saying the polls body is protected by law.

The Deputy President said it is only the IEBC that is mandated to organise and conduct electons.

“In accordance with our Kenyan constitution IEBC will prepare & oversee presidential elections in October,” he posted on Twitter, Sunday.

Ruto said Raila had failed to win elections and was looking for other ways to ascend to power.

“For how long will one man, unable to win elections, continue to blackmail 45m Kenyans using threats of violence, chaos, bloodshed & anarchy,” the DP tweeted.

Nasa leader Raila Odinga on Sunday stated that they will push for the removal of IEBC official who bungled the August polls.
