Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has said his party, Chama Cha Mashinani, will work with the National Super Alliance (NASA) ahead of August 8 general election.
The CCM leader has been in talks with NASA leaders and said they share the same ideologies.
“Jubilee has said they do not want us or even hear anything about us, so we have been in talks with NASA which seems to pursue similar interests as that of our CCM party. Jubilee has sustained abuses and insults on other leaders hence making it hard to approach,” he said during an interview on Taach FM, a Kelenjin radio station, on Tuesday.
He said he has struck a pre-election deal with NASA leaders – Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi.
“NASA and CCM share similar ideologies. I have talked with NASA principals as I was sent by the elders. I will be reporting to them this week,” he said.
The governor, who refused to join Jubilee Party, said NASA will not field candidates for governor, senator and woman representative in Nakuru and Narok counties, but instead will support CCM aspirants.
“We have agreed with NASA. It will be in exchange for our support for the top seat,” said Ruto.
The governor, who has been a strong critic of the Jubilee Party leaders, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, said the two do not deserve a second term.
Two weeks ago, DP Ruto asked Bomet residents to vote out the governor come August.
He accused Governor Ruto of sabotaging key development projects in the region.
