Despite joining National super Alliance as fifth principal, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto will however remain neutral in the selection of opposition flag bearer.

NASA is yet to settle on a flag bearer and talks are at an advanced stage with four principals under the leadership of Raila Odinga set to discuss a report from National Coordination Committee that gave its proposals.

And on Tuesday, Ruto said he would back any candidate which the coalition would propose ahead of August elections.

“I am now in NASA but I won’t meddle with choosing of flag bearer. I am ready to support whoever they settle on,” he told reporters in Bomet.

The Jubilee critic added: “All we need to focus on is beating Jubilee. The living standards of our people are at the bottom low and there is need for a total overhaul.”

The decision to support NASA could be Rutto’s perilous gamble given the region is predominantly Jubilee due to DP William Ruto’s influence.

He is facing a stiff competition from Deputy National Assembly Speaker Joyce Laboso and former Konoin MP Julius Kones, who will however battle in Jubilee nominations.
