Furious Deputy President William Ruto on Monday dismissed believes that he needs President Uhuru Kenyatta's backing to win presidency.
Although he did not directly mention the president, Ruto however insisted that he has the 'ability and courage' to reach all Kenyans for support.
"I am busy serving people because I was elected to do that. Our people are not stupid and they will easily judge you based on what you have done.
"In fact, I do not anybody's blessings or backing to reach there. I trust in my God and he will sail me through," said Ruto at Rigoma grounds.
The debate comes at the time Senate Minority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen claimed that a section of operatives at the office of the president are keen to have Ruto lose in 2022.
During the Nyamira trip, Ruto also dismissed reports that he needs permission from the president to walk around the country in launching projects.
"I was elected to work for the people. I do not need anybody's permission to do my job. Those thriving on that should spare me," he added.
Among the leaders present during the function include Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, his Nyamira counterpart Amos Nyaribo and Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose.
