Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to improve devolution so that Kenyans can ‘eat meat’ like he does.
Speaking at the 10th Anniversary of Tumoi Day Secondary School in Chepalungu on Thursday, Ruto told Uhuru to ensure money trickles to the counties so ordinary Kenyans can also feast.
“They are feasting on meat when we do not even have Ugali or vegetables. He should work on improving devolution so that we too can enjoy meat at least thrice a year,” said Ruto as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Ruto further criticised Uhuru over the now infamous ‘meza mate, tukila nyama’ utterance at the funeral of William ole Ntimama. Uhuru was telling off Cord leader Raila Odinga over his perceived incessant bickering over Jubilee matters.
“How can we salivate when we do not even have water? We do not want the government to eat meat on taxpayers’ money, they should improve budgetary allocations for counties to better the lives of the locals,” Ruto added.
At the funeral, Raila had accused the government of being inactive on the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report which seeks to address land issues and historical injustices.
