Speaking on Sunday during a service at Soul Harvest Church in Kisauni, Mombasa County, Ruto urged churches across the country to help end the drug menace, which he said has affected many Kenyan youth.

"The church should partner with the government in the fight against drug abuse and radicalization. We want the young people to be productive and contribute to nation building,” said Ruto.

He further argued that youth should engage in activities that will see them progress in life, saying the move will help them shun drugs.

"Youths have an important role to play in the country. Drug abuse should not deter them from engaging in activities such as businesses, in a bid to transform their lives,” he added.

He urged security agencies to take action against drug traffickers in the country, adding that the national government will not sit and watch youth falling prey to drug abuse.
