Deputy President William Ruto has called on Kenyans to shun divisive politics and embrace togetherness and unity, noting that role of the government and religious organizations in uniting the country is complementary.

The Deputy President said it was unfortunate that for more than two decades politics in the country have been driven by tribal interests, saying the Jubilee Government was now committed to dismantling all tribal, regional or religious based divisions in the country.

“Jubilee government is committed more than ever in ensuring that practices which threaten peace in the nation are completely dealt with. This is why as a government we are working to ensure peace and unity is attained all over the country,” Ruto said.

Ruto was addressing residents of Kiambu County at Wangige market on Sunday, where he was accompanied by other leaders. 

Ruto also made a promise to the residents of government’s plans to develop the region through construction of roads, upgrading of hospitals, setting up technical training institutes as well as enhancing security for better environment.
