Council of Governors chairman Isaac Ruto has called upon the government to initiate infrastructural development in cattle rustling prone counties to end perennial deaths.
Ruto, who is also the Bomet Governor, noted that initiating of development projects with leaders in affected counties will work, adding that security operations may not yield much.
The governor was speaking in Mau summit Nakuru on Monday, where he condemned the recent killing of police officers saying that as governors, they are pushing for more funds in order to see counties develop and improve the living standards of Kenyans.
“I call upon the Government to act fast and engage governors from West Pokot, Turkana and Baringo in the bid to find a lasting solution over cattle rustling,” said Ruto.
Ruto added that such leaders have not been fully engaged in he ongoing operation to flush out Bandits who killed 21 police officers at Kapedo.
The attacks have been associated to oil exploration Geothermal Power, water and grazing land as well as boundaries dispute.
Ruto slammed allegations that Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is using explosives and bomb to flush out Bandits at Kapedo, Silale Hills and other surrounding areas
He also pointed out that if the allegation is true, it is unfortunate because the conflict has not reached a level where security personnel should use explosives.
