Nakuru youths have been advised to apply for government funds to help alleviate rising unemployment and poverty in the county.
Addressing youths at Kihoto estate in Naivasha Sub County on Wednesday, County Deputy Governor pleaded with the youths to go for the Uwezo fund. He said the Fund will transform the living standards of youths if they apply for them.
The Deputy Governor stated that many youths who had applied and received the funds and were doing well. “We can fight unemployment and poverty effectively if our you (youths) make the first step of applying for the development funds,” he said.
The Deputy Governor said young people have been presented with a golden opportunity to improve their lives. He also observed that many youths were wasting much time and resources looking for the few ‘white collar jobs’. “Young people especially those that have graduated from colleges and universities should stop thinking about being employed and start thinking on job creation.
He said the county government has started programmes aimed at training youths on entrepreneurship. Ruto urged youths to attend such forums saying it will change their mindsets of employment.
