Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi has defended the delegation of leaders he will lead from Kisii to Deputy President William Ruto's home in Eldoret on Thursday.

Addressing the press on Wednesday in his office, Maangi said the visit is purely a by-partisan visit that would ensure development in Kisii County.

A section of Orange Democratic Movement party members from Kisii County had taken issue with the visit, alleging that Maangi was being used to divide Kisii voters a head of 2017 general election.

Maangi said he will divulge what they will have discussed and faulted those misleading Kisii residents that they were being 'seduced by the government'.

“We are responding to a courtesy call by Deputy President William Ruto. Ruto is a national leader and is serving all Kenyans irrespective of their party affiliations. Therefore, the meeting is not a political one. We are going to discuss development issues in our county,” said Maangi.

Maangi is expected to lead a section of elected leaders including MCAs, council leaders to pay Ruto a courtesy call.
