A group of IDPs selected from Nyamira and Gusii counties have warned Deputy President William Ruto against touring the region adding that the trip might yield ‘nothing’.

In an interview with the reporters on Monday, the group led by Evans Orioki accused the DP of failing to fulfill his earlier promises of compensating them.

Ruto is set to tour the region on Friday to attend several meeting that are reportedly targeting dairy farmers in Gusii and Bomet regions.

“As Gusii community of IDPs, he is not welcome at all to our counties. He has often promised of having us compensated but nothing is forthcoming,” Orioki said.

He added: “We are examining options because we are tired with lies. It will be of importance that he keeps off till outstanding issues are settled.”

Despite facing resistance in a section of regions when campaigning, Ruto, who is facing a rebellion in Rift Valley, has often scoffed his opponents as ‘failures’.

Previously, Mr. Ruto has visited the region with the opposition accusing him of pouching its leaders using government resources.
