Deputy President William Ruto has warned Cord leader Raila Odinga against causing 'chaos' in the country in the guise of trying to eject IEBC commissioners from office.
Speaking in Mandera County on Thursday where he has accompanied President Kenyatta for a 3-day visit of North Eastern region, Ruto stated that no acts of violence shall be tolerated.
"How much chaos does he want to cause so that he can get whatever he is looking for in this country? We want to tell him that we are saying no to polarisation of our country and violence," Ruto added.
The DP reiterated Jubilee's call to Cord to follow the laid down constitutional procedure to remove the IEBC commissioners from office. Ruto, however, noted that Jubilee is open to a constructive dialogue that will forge a way ahead into conducting 2017 General election peacefully.
"MPs from our coalition are ready to sit down with Cord and discuss the way forward on how we are going to conduct next year's elections," he added.
This comes even as Cord vowed to go ahead with its planned Monday demo despite the Church trying to reconcile both Cord and IEBC to soften their firm stands and allow talks.
"The struggle continues on Monday the 23rd May 2016. President Kenyatta himself is yet to talk with these church leaders. We are told they are yet to secure an appointment with the President and his cabinet," said Siaya Senator James Orengo on Thursday in Nairobi during a press briefing.
