Deputy President, William Ruto, has assured residents along the Kerio Valley that the government will stamp out the cattle rustling menace in the region.
Speaking during the 5th Kimalel Cultural Festival and Goat Auction in Baringo County Thursday, Ruto told leaders from the Kerio Valley to show their seriousness by speaking with one voice in the fight against cattle rustling.
Ruto said it is primitive for the region to continue witnessing outdated cattle rustling incidents when people in other parts of the country were busy engaging in income generating activities aimed at improving their lives.
The Deputy President said leaders from Turkana, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Samburu and West Pokot Counties must work together by supporting Government efforts in finding a lasting solution to the problem.
He said it was the right of all Kenyans to live in peace and that the few troublemakers would not be given a chance.
The leaders promised to meet and work out on modalities of ensuring peace and stability in the region. Elgeyo Marakwet senator, Kipchumba Murkomen said plans were underway for leaders to come together and explore ways of arresting cattle rustling activities in the region.
