Deputy President William Ruto has spoken for the first time about the incident where he was booed in Kisumu in front of President Uhuru Kenyatta during Jubilee's vote-hunt mission in the pro-opposition county.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Citizen on Wednesday, the DP said that the locals were disappointed with his decision to ditch former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and support Uhuru Kenyatta.
"I understand the feelings of Kisumu people very well. May be according to them, had I not dumped the former Prime Minister and support Uhuru Kenyatta, he (Raila Odinga) would have become the President of Kenya. But it's their right," Ruto said.
Ruto further defended his brand of politics where he rivals have accused him of engaging in personal attacks instead of selling his policies, the DP saying that he is unfairly accused.
He further defended his decision to rally voters to support Jubilee candidates across all the elective seats saying that politics is built around political parties.
