Deputy President William Ruto now says that National Super Alliance's failure to agree on a suitable presidential candidate early was the main reason why Raila Odinga did not beat President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto who was speaking at the funeral of the late former vice president's wife Yvonne Wamalwa told off Ford Kenya Party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, saying that the government was ready for dialogue on issues development and not politics.

''I told you but you did not listen, you took so long to decide who will be your leader. For three years kept moving from seminars to workshops to retreats until you delayed. How could you compete with us? We organised ourselves a long time ago," Ruto told Nasa co-principal Wetangula.

Ruto urged the opposition to accept the outcome of October 26 presidential election and let Kenyans move on with their lives.

"We went hunting and we got, I want to tell you that am in agreement with what my friends here are saying, we must build bridges of reconciliation and unity so that Kenyans can leave as one people, I agree with these leaders. And that has always been our stand.

"Tribal politics has given us a big loss as a country and we must resist politics of hate and tribalism so that we can be one united nation as a country," Ruto said.

Ruto eulogised Yvonne as a hard-working woman who was at the forefront of building trade relations with other countries, especially during the TICAD conference held in Nairobi.
