Deputy President William Ruto says time has come for the Kamba community and their leaders to make the choice of joining the winning team rather than gamble with their future.
“You cannot continue guessing about your political future, time has come for you to make up your mind and I can assure you that your future is secure in the Jubilee Government,” he said.
The DP was speaking when he accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to launch several road projects in Ukambani region.
He said while the Cord coalition is still not sure who their flag bearer will be in the next election, Jubilee has a candidate who has proved his worthy as demonstrated by the development projects spread across the country.
During the function, President Kenyatta and his Deputy were crowned as Kamba elders.
The ceremony was conducted by the chairman of the Council of Kamba Elders Borniface Kyengo.
Kyengo said Kamba elders have decided to give guidance to the community on who to support in the coming elections.
Local leaders led by Members of Parliament Joe Mutambu and Patrick Musimba said they had decided to seek the guidance of the Council of Kamba Elders, saying they are tired of waiting to be shown the way.
Other speakers included Makueni Governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana and his Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua who thanked the President for launching the road project which they termed as a game changer in Ukambani region.
