Speaking at Maanzoni Lodge in Machakos on Friday during Ford-Kenya's National Executive Council meeting, Wetang'ula accused Ruto of trying to meddle in Cord's political affairs by pushing for the naming of a flag-bearer for 2017 elections.

The Bungoma senator affirmed that claims of disunity in Cord due to the lack of a presidential flag-bearer was unfounded and aimed at causing disquiet.

"Cord is not in a hurry to elect a presidential flag-bearer for 2017 elections. As it now stands, we have put great mechanisms in place that when we announce the flag-bearer for Cord, it will hit the like a tsunami. William Ruto has no authority to ask us to name our presidential candidate for 2017 elections. He should look back to 2002 when Mwai Kibaki was named the flag-bearer of Narc two months to election," said Wetang'ula.

According to the Jubilee team, the lack of Cord to announce a flag-bearer position is an indication that there is discomfort in the coalition and this was going to make the coalition disintegrate towards 2017 elections.
