Ruto, a then ODM pentagon member has been battling to clear his name at the International Criminal Court at The Hague over crimes against humanity.

In an exclusive interview with us today Alice Chae hailed the ruling saying it also vindicated the Orange party over the allegations of masterminding violence.

“The landmark ruling shows that ODM did not organise or masterminded any violence in which Kenyans lost their lives. The DP was a senior ODM leader by then and I am happy that justice has prevailed,” she said.

“It’s a huge win for ODM and Ruto in particular and I hope this is the time the country to embarks on reconciliation process for peaceful coexistence,” she added.

She also challenged the government to embark on conflict resolution mechanisms that will ensure all post-election victims are fully compensated and repatriated.

“This is the time that the government comes with a systematic mechanism to ensure IDPs are fully compensated," said Chae.

"In my county, we have IDPs at Kemera and Riatengenya chiefs camp. They should also be given the same justice for peaceful coexistence,” she said.

She urged the deputy president to embark on nation-building by forgiving those who may have fixed his name in the highest court on earth.

“On behalf of Nyamira people, I thank God that our prayers have been answered. It’s now time for the DP to forget the past and embark on nation building,” she added.
