According to Former Nakuru Chairman of President Uhuru Kenyatta's now defunct The National Alliance (TNA) party  Dr. Abdul Noor, Ruto's allies are going to the extreme in their attempts to have him succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta upon his 2022 retirement.

He said that the same is emanating from fears of a pending defeat as a result of the sudden intimacy between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, with Kenyatta likely to break his earlier vow to back his deputy's bid.

Speaking on Sauti Ya Mwananchi Radio Saturday, the ex-Flamingo ward representative warned against the technique, observing that it will do more harm than good and will further worsen Ruto's condition.

''Ruto's allies are growing scared as things seem to be taking an anticipated turn and his expected backers are slowly reconsidering their stand and they are now resorting to coercion," said the Doctor.

"They should not think that the technique will work as Kenyans are independent and want to make their own decisions. Such attempts will be met with rejection," he added.

Noor further endorsed the heating referendum debate, but maintained that it must only be undertaken with an aim of achieving national goals and not to satisfy individual political players.

"The constitutional amendment to expand the executive is a must but is must be done for the nation and not a clique of politicians," he stated.
