Slightly two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta called for lifestyle audit on government officers, a section of politicians allied to DP William Ruto seems disinterested in the idea.
At Mombasa, a rather angry Uhuru insisted that corruption will end in the country adding that all officers should undergo lifestyle audit.
"I swear to God this corruption must end in this country. We cannot sit and watch people plundering public resources.
"We shall now conduct lifestyle audit an all government workers including me and my deputy even Governor Joho. Everyone must justify his wealth," he said.
But Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi wants the lifestyle audit to be backdated in a move that seems to target Kenyatta family and its vast empire.
"When you tell us about lifestyle audit, then let it be backdated if at all its fair. That is the only way we can get justice to everyone," he said.
In the Truth Justice and Reconciliation report, which is yet to be adopted, the Kenyatta family was adversely mentioned on land issues.
