A close ally of Deputy President William Ruto has revealed how some leaders from Central Kenya are grooming former MP Peter Kenneth to vie for the presidency in 2022 on a Jubilee ticket.
According to Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago, the leaders are working through activist Boniface Mwangi to tarnish Ruto's name so that he won't clinch the JP ticket.
“For those who dream they will tarnish Ruto’s name through someone called Boniface Mwangi so that by 2022 they can start giving excuses, we will not accept that,” the governor said.
Mandago further alleged that the leaders were holding meetings at night to groom Kenneth as Ruto replacement.
“We even know where they meet at night to plan moves against Ruto and we will soon name those involved,” Mandago said.
He added that Kenneth's push to vie for Nairobi gubernatorial seat was the work of some leaders whom he promised to name soon.
“We’ve started seeing some plans by those asking him to vie in Nairobi and not Murang’a. We know them by name and we will reveal them soon,” Mandago said.
