The contest for Nairobi's Embakasi North parliamentary seat has received a new entrant after Deputy President William Ruto's ally joined the race.
Yusuf Abdi declared interest for the seat and expressed confidence he will win it in August.
Yusuf is among politicians who were in the ODM party in 2007 when ODM party leader Raila Odinga vied for the presidency and narrowly lost to then head of state Mwai Kibaki.
But following the fall-out between DR Ruto and Mr Odinga, he also left the Orange party.
Yusuf, who is a close ally to Parliament Majority Leader and Garissa Township MP Aden Duale is expected to contest for the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.
He, currently, has a huge following in Embakasi constituency.
He played an instrumental role in containing rampant insecurity in the constituency when he constituted a ten-man committee to tackle lawlessness.
Embakasi North is presently represented in Parliament by James Gakuya, who, he accuses of failing to transform the lives of the residents of the constituency.
"What I have done in Embakasi North is enough for me to win the election," he said on Saturday in an interview.
"We have fought insecurity and won. The constituency is now peaceful and residents are doing their business peacefully. Am prepared for the battle."
He is the son to former Nairobi Public Health Officer Abdulwahab Ali.
