Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday once again showed displeasure with the Supreme Court nullifying President Kenyatta’s win.
In a tweet on his official twitter handle after the court gave a full judgment on the case, Ruto said the will of the people had been taken away from them.
“Evidently a supreme coup on the sovereign will of the people was executed on basis of technicalities against their verdict captured in ballot boxes,” read the tweet.
Ruto and his Jubilee Party were not pleased with the ruling which was made on basis of illegalities and irregularities stemming from the election.
However, President Kenyatta was absolved for any wrong doing, with the court fully placing the blame on the IEBC for failing to adhere to electoral laws as provided and the constitution as well.
The duo, Kenyatta and Ruto have led a series of attacks on the Judiciary for allegedly ‘taking their victory’ from their hands, and even threatening to ‘handle’ them if they win the October 17 elections.
Recently, Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu filed a petition to kick out Chief Justice David Maraga, but he was put under pressure and forced to withdraw the case.
All eyes are now on the IEBC, as the country prepares for fresh elections that will see Kenyatta and Odinga face each other once again.
