Deputy president William Ruto's personal assistant Farouk Kibet has rubbished claims that some operatives in Ruto's office have a list of preferred candidates that they will help to win the Jubilee party primaries, Friday.
He instead claimed that those making the allegations have sensed defeat and were only looking for scapegoats.
According to Farouk, he has no powers to influence the outcome of the party primaries in Uasin Gishu county.
On Monday, Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi claimed that some officials in the office of the Deputy president were planing to rig the nomination in favour of their preferred candidates.
“All that propaganda is nonsense because I have no power to influence how people will vote. I am not a Jubilee Party official. If anything, I have only one vote – for President Uhuru Kenyatta," Farouk said.
Both Mandago and Sudi are facing an uphill task in their bid to secure Jubilee party ticket.
Mandago will be battling business mogul Bundotich Kiprop alias Buzeki for the gubernatorial ticket while former United Nations (UN) staff Stephen Kipkemboi Kewa is seeking to replace Sudi as the Kapseret MP.
