Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto's car on Tuesday fatally knocked a pedestrian along the Narok –Bomet road, killing him on the spot.

According to the statement sent to newsrooms by Ruto, the man had alighted from a matatu which was “half parked on the road and half on the kerb.” 

He was trying to cross the road when the Governor’s car hit him, killing him on the spot. 

The Matatu escaped after the accident which happened between Maai Mahiu and Suswa. The Governor said that he reported the incident to Mai Mahiu Police station. 

Through his twitter account, the Governor regretted the accident and condoled the bereaved family for the unfortunate loss of a loved one.

The matatu escaped from the scene of the accident and we could not trace it afterwards. I reported the matter at Mai Mahiu police station.

Police visited the scene of the accident and are investigating and searching for the matatu.
