Expectations are incredibly high in Deputy President William Ruto's Rift Valley turf and managing those expectations is proving quite a headache.
As President Uhuru Kenyatta comes up with a list of people he wants in his government, the people of Rift Valley expect that their own will be considered because of the votes they cast for him.
Deputy President will be seeking to assume the highest office in the land in 2022 and to do that he will have to reward Rift Valley loyalists while also ensuring that he attracts support from other regions.
Protests have already erupted in his backyard over the East African Legislative Assembly list as many loyalists contend that they were not considered.
39 people from Rift Valley applied for EALA and only four made it to the list of 15.
Supporters have protested that the slots are not sufficient.
''We should be given more slots because we contributed immensely to Jubilee's victory.'' Daniel Rono, Keiyo South MP argues.
That is the tough balancing act that the DP is grappling with, and how he executes it will have a huge bearing on whether his presidential ambitions become a reality.
