The decision by Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader Isaac Ruto to leave the National Super Alliance (NASA) is inconsequential, Lugari MP Ayub Savula has said.

According to the lawmaker, Ruto's departure doesn't worry the Opposition coalition because the August 8 General Election proved that he could not deliver votes for Raila Odinga.

"His input to the alliance was dismal based on the number of votes that he brought in to support NASA presidential candidate Raila in last month poll. The Jubilee forces overpowered his maiden ambitions and also robbed him of his seat in Bomet County," he said.

In an opinion piece published by the Standard on Tuesday, Savula said Ruto joined Jubilee to advance his own self-interests and revive his dwindling political career.

"Ruto was simply looking for employment when he sought to join President Uhuru Kenyatta's team. It dawned on him that it is impossible to fight your own master  (DP William Ruto) and that 'if you cannot beat them, join them'," the legislator said.

In a rally in Kericho County last week, Ruto said he joined Jubilee after realising his people were not ready to go to 'Canaan'.

The former governor said he was misled to support the Opposition.

"I was misled and cheered as I went astray. We literally began politics with President Kenyatta and DP Ruto, and when they came looking for me to join them I couldn't say no to them," Ruto said.
