Deputy President William Ruto o Wednesday asked Kenyans who he may have wronged in anyway to forgive him and embrace togetherness and work towards developing the country in unison.

The deputy president said he negative propaganda and unnecessary rivalry will derail development at a time the nations needs Kenyans to work together in realizing development dreams as cast by the country's founding fathers.

"In keeping with HE's statement, l William Samoei Ruto unreservedly apologise to anyone offended or hurt in anyway by what I have said or done at any time," he said shortly after the State of the Nation address by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Parliament buildings.

"Find it in your heart to forgive me. I have forgiven all those who wronged me. Let us embark on building the bridges of friendship and unity."

The DP is expected to vie for the presidency in 2022 and may have found it necessary to craft unity between him and his political rivals as the country prepares to go for yet another election.

Ruto played an instrumental role in ensuring President Uhuru retains his seat after the sharply divisive August 8 general election in which opposition chief Raila Odinga lost to Uhuru.
