Deputy President William Ruto has reiterated that the opposition NASA hired militia to prevent the repeat presidential elections in Nyanza region.

During an interview with Al Jazeera, DP Ruto asked Raila to remove the alleged militia in parts of Nyanza so that people can vote.

According to Ruto, the opposition NASA blocked the polls in order to gain power through means not laid down in the constitution.

"I challenge our opponent to remove the organised militia blocking the delivery of voting material so we know for sure if those affected wants to vote or not," said Ruto.

During the Thursday polls, youth in Kisumu, Migori, Kisumu and Homa Bay counties blocked a section of the road blocking IEBC officials from delivering voting materials.

The incident prompted IEBC to postpone the polls to Saturday, but later re-scheduled indefinitely over security concerns.
