The office of the deputy president has again made the headlines following its move to hire an individual in the list of shame.
Patrick Omutia has just landed a prestigious job in William Ruto's office as the director of the intergovernmental budget and economic planning where his new office shall be based in Annex, Harambee house.
Omutia is the former permanent secretary in the mining ministry and he was suspended for allegedly defrauding World Bank during his tenure at the Mining docket.
In his newly acquired job, Omutia will act as a link between the national government and the county governments where he will be expected to oversee revenue collection and distribution. However, the deputy president's office, through its spokesperson, David Mugonyi, has openly come to distance itself from the appointment and denied the claims.
Omutia is among the numerous civil servants listed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
President Kenyatta had issued a stern warning to all those listed in the list of shame to step aside pending investigations. Other public servants who were adversely mentioned in the shameful list were Davis Chirchir, Michael Kamau, Kazungu Kambi among other high-ranking former government officials.
